Vienna Airport serves over 20 million passengers every year. The airport offered pleasant architecture and strong retail tenants, but they had no sonic strategy.
Following a sound audit, The Sound Agency carried out a four-month soundscape trial. We installed a generative soundscape in order to determine the impact of generative sound on Vienna Airport’s customers. The trial showed that the generative soundscape increased retail spend per head by 3%. Interestingly, customers were not necessarily buying more items but buying more expensive ones. We continue to work with Vienna Airport to fine-tune their sound.
