Kamppi’s new sound has increased dwell time and generates an estimated ROI of €25 million annually.


Located in central Helsinki, Kamppi is Finland’s largest shopping centre. The mall wanted to improve customer experience and engaged us via our local partners, Bauer Media and Mall Voice, to replace a generic music playlist with a custom-designed soundscape.

The Sound Agency created a custom, psycho-physiologically appropriate generative soundscape that’s urban, calming and welcoming.


Independent research was carried out over a period of two months by Path Intelligence, who investigated consumer reactions to the sound. The study showed an average increase in dwell time of 7.7% when the sound was playing. Path Intelligence estimates that Kamppi’s new soundscape is increasing the mall’s retail sales by 10%. This is represents an annual ROI of 25 million Euros.

The Sound Agency continues to update the centre’s sound, including a subtle festive layer at Christmas.
