The project
ECE’s Aquis Plaza is in the historic spa town of Aachen, Germany, and offers high-end shopping, entertainment and gastronomy. Following an audit and workshop, we created five generative soundscapes across the mall. Each soundscape is based on a different texture of water. They reflect the spa town surroundings and mall’s smooth glass and organic textures. Soundscapes also have variations for high and low occupancy levels.
Aquis Plaza opened in October 2015 to rave reviews. Malls.com praised the “innovative” multi-sensory design, which it said creates the “perfect shopping experience.”
