The past decade has seen fast growth in podcast listenership and awareness, and 2017 is no exception.
In January and February 2017, Edison Research conducted a national telephone survey of 2,000 people aged 12 and above. The results have provided content creators and brands with key insights into podcast listenership, awareness, and demographics.
Key findings show that:
- podcasting consumption continues to rise, with monthly listeners growing from 21% in 2016 to 24% in 201;
- podcast audiences continue to be dominated by those aged 18-54, with a slight lean towards male listenership;
- the podcast listener remains an affluent, educated consumer;
- listeners consume podcasts mostly at home, while vehicle travel is a strong second.
