Sound News: Speaking at TED conference
Our Chairman Julian Treasure is a big fan of the TED Conference. TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) is an extraordinary coming together of ideas and people, and is now happening annually in Oxford in July, alongside its original spot in California every February.
Julian attended TED in Oxford last month and was honoured to give a short talk at ‘TED University’ the half-day mini-conference that precedes TED. The 5 minute talk called ‘Sound Affects’ used sound to demonstrate to a packed audience of 250 ‘TEDsters’ the key ways in which sound affects all human beings physiologically, psychologically, cognitively and behaviourally. It was a huge success with lots of positive feedback and engagement afterwards.
Julian reports that it is going to take him weeks to process the exciting connections that resulted from TED, both in terms of ideas and in terms of people. We have many new possible partnerships all over the world, and have already booked for next year’s TED Conference. With luck, Julian’s talk will be posted on the TED website and through it’s podcasts sometime in the future.
